You will find essential items and daily fresh local produce in the small supermercado at the centre of Salema. Wonderfully fresh fish can be purchased directly on the beach – in the hall that the fishermen bring their catch to every day for weighing and loading.
There is a larger Intermarché in Budens with a petrol station and original public launderette. In Vila do Bispo (approx. 5 km from Salema) is a large Lidl supermarket with bakery. As the nearest larger town, Lagos has several big supermarkets, along with countless little shops in its charming old town. There is also a hospital for emergencies.
